Blackberry Storm 2 officially announced for Holiday release
Research In Motion Ltd. has released a new version of their Blackberry Storm smartphone in the form of the new Blackberry Storm 2. While Storm was almost unanimously agreed to be a megaflop, Storm 2 is aimed at fixing its predecessor’s faults. According to RIM CEO, “This is a dramatically different, dramatically enhanced product,”.
The new Storm supposedly has a revamped touchscreen that is a vast improvement over the original Storm. Instead of the all-or-nothing click button on the Storm 1, the screen on the new device uses piezo electronics to detect pressure at any point on the screen. The screen is becomes stiff when the phone is locked or off and becomes spongy when its alive. It will provide much faster, smoother typing.
Other new features in the Storm 2 include the addition of WiFi and the portrait mode keyboard. The smartphone also packs a 3.2 megapixel camera. Verizon and RIM have confirmed a big holiday release for the Blackberry Storm 2. It is likely to appear around November priced at around $200.
