Verizon takes on Sprint over ‘most dependable 3G network’ claim

verizon-vs-sprint1

Verizon Wireless seems to be on battle turf with rivals lining up against it one after the other. After AT&T, Verizon is up in arms against Sprint over a marketing claim that seems to be stretching it too far. Sprint’s claim that it is ‘the most dependable 3G network in the whole of America’ has left Verizon irked big time.

Verizon has taken this claim seriously and has shot off a complaint to the National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus (NAD). The body, in response, has asked Sprint to cancel the slogan. The battle seems…

Windows Mobile 6.5 Comes to Sprint With Samsung’s Intrepid

intrepidThough we pronounced Windows Mobile 6.5 anything but intrepid, Samsung is bringing a WinMo 6.5 phone by that name to Sprint. It should be available October 11th, and looks pretty much like Sammy’s old BlackJack line.

The Samsung Intrepid is a full QWERTY phone with a 2.5-inch, 320×240 touchscreen, packing ho-hum features like a 3.2MP camera and Wi-Fi. It’ll cost $150 with a 2-year contract on Sprint, which seems pretty pricey considering the Palm Pre retails for the same, but could be a decent businessphone if your business happens to be attached to WinMo. It’ll be available October 11th.

Sprint Hero A Faster, Stronger, Nearly perfect Android phone

Sprint Hero (HTC)The original version of the Hero was “daring” and “ambitious, but tragically flawed.”

If it was Batman, the Sprint Hero is Superman: Nearly perfect, but goddamn boring.HTC has taken the striking, aggressive angles of Hero v1 and flattened them out into a rounded, far more generic looking phone. It’s not hideous, but it’s lost its power to captivate as a geek fetish object.

Everything else about this version of the phone is better: The software, which is exactly the same content-wise on the HTC front as the first Hero, has been seriously optimized, so it…

T&T, Sprint, Verizon all signed up for WinMo 6.5 launches on October 6

windows-marketplace-ofc-03

Microsoft is saying that three of the US’ big four carriers — AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon, to be specific — will be hitting the ground running with Windows Mobile 6.5 as part of its synchronized global launch on October 6. We’ve got to give Microsoft some credit on this one: launching a single device around the world on the same day is a feat in itself, but coordinating with countless manufacturers and carriers to get them to launch a bunch of different devices on the same day takes things to an…
